Apparently The Simpsons predicted Trump as president 16 years ago
The race to presidency has come to an end
hours ago with a result that surprised the whole world, or did it?
Donald Trump’s
election came as a surprise for most of us, and frankly if you told me that Trump
will be president of the United States a year ago (along with England getting
out of the EU) I would have probably laughed at your face. But The Simpsons predicted that way back in
the year 2000!
The episode “Bart
to the future” that first aired back in March
19, 2000 sees Lisa Simpson elected as president of the United
States right after “Trump”, and during a meeting in her oval office see says: “We’ve inherited
quite a budget crunch from President Trump “, see for yourself in
the video bellow.
In an interview with The Guardian, Matt Groening, the creator of the Simpsons
said: “We predicted
that he would be president back in 2000 – but [Trump] was of course the most
absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time, and that’s
still true. It’s beyond satire. “
In the episode, Lisa is also the first straight female president in the
US, so does that mean Hillary Clinton is going to get the presidency after all,
or maybe it’s Michelle Obama, since it appears that a lot of people are vouching for her.
