5 celebrities who spent time in mental institutions
This
morning the internet went crazy over the rumor of Kanye West being committed at a psychiatric unit in Los Angeles, and though
this rumor is yet to be confirmed, we have made you a list of famous people who
spent some time in a mental institution.
Winona Ryder:
The Heathers star had a long history with battling
mental illness, and in 1990, she dropped out of The Godfather part III and checked into a psychiatric hospital due to
anxiety, exhaustion and depression. She later left the hospital saying it was a
waste of time.
Steven Tyler:
In 1986, Tyler reportedly stayed at McLean Hospital, precisely
in the rehab wing. He was checked after the Aerosmith band members confronted
him about his drug addiction. Steven stayed sober for years, until he became
addicted on painkillers and had to stay in a rehab institution again in 2009.
Catherine Zeta-Jones:
Catherine had to stay in Silver Hill Hospital for five
days after struggling with a very common mental illness: bipolar disease.
Demi Lovato:
Demi Lovato is a famous pop singer and mental health
advocate. She is using her experience with mental disorders to help people
speak up in her campaign against mental illness. 6 years ago, Demi was hospitalized
after suffering from depression, an eating disorder, and self-harm.
Britney Spears:
Perhaps the most famous case in this list, Britney Spears made the headlines back in 2007
especially with her infamous shaved hair picture. Britney was involuntarily committed
to the psychiatric wing of the UCLA Medical Center, after a series of
events including the loss of custody of her children, which led to her Suffering
from bipolarity and sudden changes of mood.
Mental illnesses are as serious as other illnesses,
